Case Study – Mr & Mrs Hicks
Mrs Hicks from Brentwood wanted to extend her home with a room she could sit in and feel she’s in the garden. She chose Certified Installer Network member SEHBAC, impressed with their range of products and reputation.
The Hicks’ Essex home is a blend of traditional architecture but full of modern touches including the stunning kitchen. The property is built in a traditional Tudor style contrasting impressive render and wooden beams. They wanted something more than the average conservatory, ideally looking for something that would appear to be part of the original house. “I wanted something which would blend with the existing house to look like it has always been here,” Mrs Hicks explained. “I had visited quite a few other companies in my search for the perfect orangery, but seeing the finished products in the showroom gave me confidence to choose SEHBAC.”
Knowing exactly what she wanted, Mrs Hicks was involved in the design of the extension: “I wanted something I can use all year round and in particular I wanted large windows to give the feel of a garden room,” described Mrs Hicks. “I was able to tweak the plans created by the team at SEHBAC to bring onto paper the design I had in my mind.”
The result has been a stunning extension which works effortlessly as part of the home and merges seamlessly with the garden. The brickwork matches the main house and the glazed conservatory-style roof floods the room with natural light. A plaster-finished pelmet around the internal edge of the glass ceiling houses wall lights and spotlights to give the feeling of a more traditional extension and a striking ceiling light finishes it off. “I’m delighted, I adore my new room,” Mrs Hicks told us.
Mr & Mrs Hicks orangery went on to win the National Home Improvement Council Glazed Extension of the Year: “I am absolutely thrilled with the end product, I love my orangery to bits. The whole process has been excellent from start to finish – from the first visit to the showroom, to the designs, to the installation. Everything went so well, there was minimal disruption during construction, not a lot of mess and the team cleared up after themselves every day. I couldn’t be more thrilled by the expertise, craftsmanship and outcome of our orangery project. It’s superb.”
